- 1x VCR 180 MC Heat Recovery Unit with digital wall controller. Designed for air flow rates of 50 – 180 m3/h
- 5x 150mm Cone vents (3 for supply of fresh air and 2 for extraction, these are adjustable to help regulate airflow, for example vents closer to the unit can be closed more than those further away)
- 5x 6m lengths of 150mm R1.5 Insulated flexible ducting (30 meters in total, lengths can be cut as required)
- 3x BTO Junctions 150 x 150 x 150mm
- 2x External Flyscreen vents (1 for fresh air supply, 1 for extraction – can be installed on an external wall or under eave)
- 1x Roll of Duct Tape
This kit is designed to service a single level property with two extraction points (typically 1x bathroom and 1x kitchen/laundry) and three fresh air outlet points. This may service two bedrooms and a living room. If you require more outlet points simply purchase the additional vents, ducting and BTO junctions required. Please note this kit comes with 30 meters of ducting, if more is required this can also be purchased with your base kit. It is advisable to roughly calculate how much ducting is required before placing your order. If you have individual runs longer than 6 meters each you can use a duct joiner (also listed as an accessory below). Take a look at the below basic kit configuration diagram for a simple example of how this system could be set up.
Please note that to comply with regulations, this unit should not be installed with more than 2 extraction points.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please Note: An electrician is required to install this unit. Similarly to a ducted heating/cooling system the unit requires 20mm condensation pipe run off, so provisions will need to be made for this. It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the installation manual which includes detailed installation instructions along with unit settings.
When ventilating this unit works differently to a conventional bathroom/rangehood exhaust fan – it is designed to provide continuous ventilation rather than short intense ventilation typically associated with a bathroom unit. It is however possible to wire the unit to your bathroom light switch with a run-on timer and once engaged the fan can enter boost mode for a higher rate of ventilation (the highest rate is 180 m3/hr). Nevertheless, additional ventilation may be needed in these areas.
If used in a kitchen this is not designed to replace a rangehood. Crucially a rangehood would have an inbuilt filter and have a higher extraction rate.
The system is designed to be somewhat ‘set and forget’ with relevant automation set based on your requirements.
This is not a fully engineered or bespoke solution. It is designed to provide the fundamental benefits of heat recovery (fresh air coming in, stale air going out) at an affordable price point. It is suitable for renovations and retrofits to improve the energy efficiency of the home whilst providing a healthier indoor air quality. For use in a new build, please ensure compliance to the NCC with your builder or architect.
