Heat Recovery Ventilation
Traditionally, buildings relied on passive ventilation methods, such as vents and open windows, to introduce fresh air indoors. While these approaches allowed airflow, they offered no control over temperature regulation, often resulting in warm indoor air escaping and being replaced by cold outside air. In such scenarios, the natural response is to increase heating, leading to higher energy consumption and rising utility costs. To address this inefficiency, modern construction practices have shifted toward airtight building designs that minimise air leakage. This evolution demands a new approach to ventilation—one that maintains indoor air quality without sacrificing thermal efficiency. Heat recovery ventilation systems have emerged as the solution, delivering fresh air while extracting excess moisture and pollutants, all without compromising the building’s energy performance.

Operating on a “push-pull” principle, the REC DUO 100 utilises a high-performance ceramic heat exchanger. During the extraction (“pull”) cycle, the ceramic core absorbs heat from the outgoing air, which is then transferred to the incoming fresh air during the supply (“push”) cycle.
Designed for continuous operation, the unit runs 24/7 in a low-speed push-pull mode, with speed settings fully adjustable by the end user to suit individual comfort preferences. When increased ventilation is required, a boost mode is automatically activated via the integrated humidistat, which can be set within a range of 45% to 85% relative humidity.
The system intelligently adjusts the airflow rate in response to real-time humidity levels, gradually increasing or decreasing speed as needed. In cases of sustained high humidity, the unit automatically shifts to extraction-only mode to rapidly expel excess moisture. Once the humidity drops below the selected threshold, it seamlessly returns to its standard low-speed push-pull operation. For added convenience and control, the unit comes equipped with a remote controller, enabling easy selection and activation of advanced ventilation functions tailored to enhance indoor comfort.
